Root canal treatment

Root canal treatment is sometimes the only way to save a tooth that would otherwise have to be extracted

Most root canal treatments are done without pain or discomfort

Patients may rest assured that everything is put in place beforehand to guarantee that the visit goes smoothly.

Root canal treatment is sometimes the only way to save a tooth that would otherwise have to be extracted. This procedure, done under local anesthesia, may sometimes also be necessary before restoring a badly damaged tooth.

In practical terms, root canal treatments are intended to remove inflamed or infected pulp (soft tissue containing nerves and blood vessels) found inside a tooth. Once the pulp is removed, the canal is disinfected and then enlarged. The canal is then sealed with a cement and a rubber-like material called gutta-percha.

Once the root canal treatment is completed, the tooth can be restored. Various alternatives are then available, depending on the condition of the tooth.
