Dental extraction
Although keeping your natural teeth is recommended, various situations may, unfortunately, require the extraction of one or more teeth, even healthy ones
Dental extraction
Primary teeth
When a baby tooth (milk tooth) is still present in the mouth and the adult tooth that succeeds it is emerging, extracting the baby tooth is suggested.
Lack of space
When the jaw is too small to accommodate a full set of teeth, some teeth may need to be extracted to permit a proper alignment of the remaining teeth. This procedure may be conducted in coordination with orthodontic treatment.
Wisdom teeth, the third molars to grow in the mouth, often get jammed at the back of the jaw. Sometimes only partially erupted, often hard to clean and frequently mispositioned in the mouth, wisdom teeth are at risk of infection or decay. The eruption of wisdom teeth may exert pressure that can cause pain due to lack of space in the mouth. Under these conditions, the extraction of wisdom teeth is highly recommended.
Deep decay
When decay extends deep under the gum and repairing it becomes impossible, extraction of the tooth is, unfortunately, inevitable.
Periodontal disease
This disease causes bone loss around the teeth, and this can lead to recurrent infections. At an advanced stage of the disease, the option of extracting the affected teeth should be seriously considered.
